Vector — The Job Search OS

For networkers

Open doors for each other.

The best moves usually start with someone you know. With Open Doors you tell your network where you’d like to be connected, with something you can offer back, and they can answer in a minute. It’s free, for as long as you like.

No card needed. Vector never messages your contacts for you.

Open Doors

One note, to the people who can actually help.

Not a blast to everyone you’ve ever met. A short, specific note to the few people most likely to reach the company, each written to them.

  1. 01

Say where you’d like to be connected

Name the company and the teams you’d like to reach. Vector drafts a short, specific note from your record, with an offer back you can edit or remove. Or write it yourself.

An Open Door at Tallgrass Payments: the note Vector drafted, the offer back underneath it, a line saying it was reviewed before the person saw it, and a panel showing three notes sent, three opened and two answered.

A note in your voice, with something offered back.

Drafted from your own record and reviewed before you see it. Change any word, rewrite the offer back, or take it out.

  2. 02

    Choose who hears it

Vector shows the people in your contacts most likely to reach that company, with the reason for each. You tick who to include, and each one gets a note written to them, with their own link.

Choose who hears it: the person’s contacts most likely to reach Tallgrass Payments, each with its reasons, such as being listed at the company in their LinkedIn connections export, a title that fits the teams they named, and when they were last in touch.

The few people who can reach them, and why each one.

Each person comes with the reason they’re on the list, so you know why before you write to them. People where you work now stay off it unless you choose otherwise.

  3. 03

    Send it yourself

One click copies a note and opens their LinkedIn message window or your email; with the Vector extension, the note is placed in LinkedIn’s message box for you. You check it and press Send. For a group chat, Slack or a newsletter, there’s a plain link to share.

  4. 04

    They answer in a minute

Their link opens a page with your name, your Open Door and your offer back. They can open a door, pass it on, or say not this time, with only an email address. You hear about it in Vector.

The page a contact opens on their phone: “Sarah Okafor is opening a door”, her note, her offer back, and three answers to choose from: I can open a door, I’ll pass it on, and Not this time.

What they see: your note, and three ways to answer.

Nothing about your search, and no account or password before they answer.

A company in Hunt, Tallgrass Payments, with its Open Door answers: Grace Liu can open a door in revenue leadership and will introduce Sarah to the CEO, with her note, and Dana Whitlock is passing it on.

The answer lands where you’re working the company.

Who offered, which team they can reach and what they said, on your Open Door and in your notifications. On a paid plan it also appears on the company in Hunt, next to the signals and your next move.

Both ways

A favor that runs in both directions.

People tune out someone who only ever asks. An Open Door is built so the person helping gets something too.

Every note offers something back

“And if I can ever open a door for you in cybersecurity sales, just say so.” Vector suggests an offer that fits what you can genuinely give, so the note reads as a trade between people who help each other.

Helping costs a minute

Nobody needs an account or a password to answer. They say which team they can reach, whether they’ll introduce you or you can mention them, and add a note if they like.

Helpers can open doors too

Anyone who answers gets a free account of their own. They can bring in their LinkedIn contacts and open doors for themselves, so the favor can come back around.

Your contacts are safe

Vector never messages your contacts. You do.

Your network is years of goodwill, and a personal note from you gets read. So Vector writes the note and gets it ready, and you send it from your own account, one person at a time.

  • Every note goes from your own LinkedIn or email, and you press Send
  • The Vector extension can place a note in LinkedIn’s message box, never press Send, and paces itself: one a minute, 25 a day, 100 a week
  • Vector never sends anything on LinkedIn for you: no messages, no connection requests, no posts
  • Nobody who doesn’t answer is ever sent a reminder
  • Anyone can ask not to be contacted through Vector again, and every Vector user honors it
  • People where you work now are left out unless you choose to include them
  • Your contacts are yours alone: no other Vector user sees them

See it work

Watch one Open Door go from a company you name to a contact’s answer, in about 20 seconds.

Who in your network can reach the company and why, the note Vector drafts, and the page your contact answers on their phone, on the real product with demo data. Watch, or take over and click around; nothing you do leaves this page.

Questions

What people ask before they bring their network in.

Is it really free?
Yes. Your contacts, who in your network can reach a company, Open Doors (as many as you write yourself, and 2 a month drafted by Vector), answering other people's Open Doors, notifications and Refer & Earn are free for as long as you like. You don't need a card to start.
Will Vector message my contacts?
No. Every note goes from your own LinkedIn or email, and you press Send. With the Vector extension the note can be placed in LinkedIn's message box for you, but you still press Send. Vector never sends anything on LinkedIn for you: no messages, no connection requests, no posts. It never sends a message in your name, and never sends a reminder to anyone who doesn't answer.
What does the person I send it to see?
Your name, your Open Door and your offer back. Nothing about your search. They can answer with only an email address, and they see nothing about anyone else who answered.
What if someone doesn't want to hear from me this way?
Every Open Door page lets them say "Don't contact me through Vector again", and that's honored for every Vector user, not just you.
Will my employer find out?
People at the company where you work now are left out of your Open Doors unless you choose to include them, because an Open Door tells whoever reads it that you're looking.
What does a paid plan add?
The search itself: discovery of roles that fit you, fast alerts when one appears on an employer job board Vector reads, research on the roles and companies you choose, Hunt intelligence on the companies heading toward needing you, and dossiers. Plans start at $12.99 a month.
How does Refer & Earn work?
When someone you brought to Vector pays for a plan, you earn for every month they pay: 20% of Lite ($2.59), or $4.99 on Standard or Pro. It's paid out through Stripe once it reaches $25.

Your network already wants to help. Make it easy.

Bring in your contacts, open your first door, and answer the ones that come your way. Free, for as long as you like.
